## The problem

Shouting across the office does not scale, and ringing someone to say one sentence interrupts them twice.

## How Intercom/Paging works

Paging broadcasts an announcement to handsets across the office. Intercom speaks directly to one extension, which answers on speaker without the person picking up. Neither rings in the normal sense, so neither pulls somebody out of what they are doing the way a call does.

The classic uses are unglamorous and constant: a delivery at the back door, a customer waiting at the counter, a call holding for someone who is away from their desk.

Intercom and paging are included on Business, and available as an add-on on Essentials.
